One Perfect Day in Atlanta: Downtown & Sweet Auburn

With only one day, base yourself in the walkable downtown core around Centennial Olympic Park, where several of the city's top attractions sit side by side. Start early at the Georgia Aquarium before the lines build, then take in the Center for Civil and Human Rights next door. A short streetcar ride east reaches Sweet Auburn, the historic heart of the civil rights movement and home to the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park.     Steps away sits this powerful museum linking the American civil rights movement to global human rights struggles. The lunch-counter sit-in simulation and the Morehouse King Collection make two focused hours deeply worthwhile.
